$5 off $25 Purchase at PetSmart Coupon

Save some money at PetSmart with this $5 off a $25 purchase coupon found HERE

You can print up to 2 coupons, and it expires December 31st 2012.

Apparently, this coupon might work at other stores like Petco, because they commonly accept competitor coupons.

Right now at PetSmart, select varieties of Blue Buffalo 30lb dog food is $45.99. Which is about $1.50 per lb. My price point for really good dog food  is $2 per lb. Then with the $5 off coupon its $40.99, or $1.37 per lb.

Or they have a deal on Hills Science Diet dog foods. When you buy a participating item, you get $4 off that item, and then get a coupon for $5 off your next purchase. If you like Hills Science Diet brand foods, this would make for a great deal. In the local ad it shows a 15.5-17.5lb bag is $30.99, with the $4 discount. with this discount and the $5 off printable coupon, you pay $21.99 for the bag, and get $5 off your next purchase.

Garden Update: November 2012

So its been a little over a month since my last update. So much has happened this month, I was able to harvest things for the first time, and got lots of growth in my garden plots.

I took lots of photos this month on different days.

Marigold "Happy Days" Mix by Burpee, growing nicely. The soil is very sandy and this plant is doing just great. Marigolds are strong smelling and they keep insects away.

This was my first plot, which is surrounded by blocks. The marigolds are growing in the block holes. There are also various herbs and other flowers known to deter insects.

This is some Alyssum, and German Chamomile growing in the block holes.

In the middle, I was able to amend the soil and plant some Broccoli "Packman", cabbage "Ruby Perfection", sweet peppers "California Giant", some Kale, variety unknown, and a mix of lettuces.

Sweet peppers "California Giant". They are very tasty. Nice flavor. Except mine grew small compared to the ones you buy in the super market.

Here is a size comparison for you. This one is probably the biggest one that has grown yet. maybe half the size of the super market ones. I like the flavor, so I will be planting them next year. I attribute the small size due to the fact that these plants were in containers for many months before I transplanted them into this garden. The containers were not very big, so they probably didn't develop a huge root system needed to grow large peppers. Now they are in a garden plot, but its winter time, I doubt they will grow much more.

I have sprayed them every now and then with Epsom salt mixed with water. It definitely makes the peppers and tomatoes flower like crazy, produce more fruit, and ripen faster.

My first head of broccoli growing, "Packman" hybrid variety. This photo was taken November 17th.

One week later, November 24th,  and it has grown significantly. I also fertilized everything today, so this growth is without fertilizers.

Two days later I decided to harvest it. You need to harvest broccoli before the heads bloom. Since I never grew broccoli before I was not sure how long I could leave the head on before it blooms. Anyways, I harvested it by cutting it off the stem. It was big enough to feed 2 people. It tasted very flavorful and fresh. My first time harvesting broccoli, I was so happy.

Now onto my second plot. Significant growth. Especially for my super sweet 100 tomatoes, which have finally took and are growing lots of new leaves. I sowed the seeds in a seed tray September 20th and I'm not sure when I finally got to planting them in the garden. So they are 2 months old and are finally taking off. The estimated harvest date was supposed to be November 29th. Yea right, the plants are only like 7 inches tall. I'm not sure why they grew so slowly. maybe I should have transplanted them sooner, or direct sowed instead of the seed trays.

Blue lake bush beans #274. Doing very well. Lots of growth this month. I see some flower buds forming. Hopefully I will get lots of beans.

Swiss Chard "Neon Lights". Finally is starting to show some real growth. I direct seeded them September 23rd. I suppose you could eat the baby leaves by now. I tried some raw, very pungent greens flavor. The leaf and stem were very "juicy" and it practically exploded in my mouth. Definitely has a stronger flavor than spinach which I like to eat raw. I've never cooked swiss chard, so I better learn recipes because I don't like this raw. But makes for a very pretty plant.

This is some Bibb lettuces, Limestone variety, and some Neon Lights swiss chard.

This is some Packman broccoli in the back, and the Ruby Perfection cabbage in the front. In between and around the plants are garlic bulbs.

Baby Choi cabbages.

This is Baby Choi cabbage from Burpee. Had tons of growth this month. Unfortunately its been eaten up by bugs. I had bugs eating my lettuces too. I didn't want to use a chemical, and finally someone directed me to where I could buy diatomaceous earth. Its a very fine powder of different rocks. The powder is sharp to soft bugs like slugs, and it dries out bugs ultimately killing them. Its also all natural, organic, food grade stuff, so its not hazardous if you eat some, and helps me maintain my organic gardening goals.

I dusted all of my plots with the stuff like crazy because I've been having so much bug issues.

Here is where I dusted some of my broccoli.

I got a 10lb bag for $15 at my local feed shop. It should last me for many months if not years.

AMAZING Coffee Deal at World Market November 28th Only

World Market is having a BOGO sale on their brand of 12oz coffee bags. They have coffee starting at $5.99, and a few were $4.49 each because hey were on sale. So if the prices don't change tomorrow, you can get each bag for about $2.50 each! This is a great deal. I always get my 12oz bags of coffee for less than $3.

Also, you should sign up for their Coffee Rewards program, which is free to join, click HERE. For every bag of coffee you buy, you get 1 point. After 6 points, or buying 6 bags, you get one free. You get double the points on Wednesday, which applies for tomorrows deal. Also, for new members you get 10% off your first purchase.

So if your a new member, I would get a minimum of 6 bags tomorrow which would be $17.97 (at $5.99 each and if they are BOGO). So your only paying for 3 of the bags. Then use your 10% off discount, to get the total down to $16.17 ish. Plus, you should get 2 free bags of coffee for buying 6 total since it is double point day on Wednesdays. I'm not sure if you can redeem them instantly or you need to wait for a coupon or code to be sent to you. Shipping is $6.95 if you buy these bags from their website. I hate paying shipping, so I would go to their store and buy the coffee.

Anyways, thats 8 bags of coffee for $16.17, or $2.02 each!! This is an amazing deal on 12oz sized bags of coffee! Stock up like crazy because I never find a deal where I can get my coffee for less than $2.50 ish.

Getting a good deal at Express

I always wait for a great deal at Express stores before I buy my husbands expensive work shirts. You cant beat the quality of the material their 1MX line of work shirts are made out of. The color selection and fit is superb. But I hate dishing out $60 for a shirt! So I get them at $25 or less.

First off, sign up for their rewards program to have coupons sent to your e-mail ro mailed to your house. Then wait for a sale. Usually sales occur during some kind of holiday, or when school is about to start.

Take Cyber Monday as an example. Everything is supposedly 40% off. So the 1MX shirts I like to buy are $35.50, a very good price for these shirts. Plus today they have free shipping.

I had a coupon mailed to me for $15 off or $30 off depending on how much I bought. I only got one shirt with the $15 off and it came out to $22 with taxes and free shipping! Thats a great price. I often buy work shirts at Ross for $25.

So I am slowly building my husbands stash of 1MX shirts at a great price :)

Reebok Cyber Monday 40% off & Free Shipping

Use code CYBER40 to get 40% off your order at www.reebok.com . Plus automatic free shipping no order minimums.

The best deals I saw were on kids shoes. There are many nice shoes for less than $25 for kids.

I'm not sure if the adult shoes are at a great price because I'm not sure how much this brand of shoes usually sells for. If it is a good deal please comment below.

Not a very impressive ad this week...
Meat
-Split Chicken breasts on the bone 99¢per lb. This is when I stock up on tons of chicken breast. I debone them and use the left over bones to make chicken stock in my crock pot. I cook the stock all day and over night. Then I store the stock in canning jars, label them, and put it in the freezer. I do different things with all the meat. You can grind it and shape them into chicken burgers, meatballs, meat loaf, or chicken sausage. I cut lots of it into smaller strips or pieces for fast cooking. Some I leave whole for roasted chicken breast or chicken parmesan. I wrap portions with plastic wrap and then put it in labeled freezer bags.

Meat
-Bag of Chicken Quarters, $0.49 per lb. Sold in 10 lb bags for $4.99 each. This is a normal price that my local Walmart has all the time.
-Whole Turkeys $0.69 per lb. I always use Walmart as a comparison to see if a price on meat is a good deal. They have their turkeys at $0.69 per lb without any special sales. So if you can get turkey for less than $0.69 per lb, that is a great deal.

-Sam's Choice Spiral sliced hams $1.98 per lb.

Dairy

Then when you go in there on black Friday go pick it up and they must apply the black Friday price to it!!! That way you are guaranteed that they will have that item for you. You must pay off the item on black Friday to get the black Friday price.***

HEB- Based on Texas City Location's Ad
Prices effective Nov 14th-22nd
Ok, this place is like a 30 minute drive for me, but if I'm going in that direction I make a stop here. This HEB has very good meat prices compared to the other HEBs around us in Galveston.

Meat
-FREE Riverside Grade A turkey up to 12lbs when you buy: HEB spiral bone in half or whole ham OR HEB natural spiral sliced bone in half ham. I called the store, and they said hams are $2.99 per lb. Hams at Walmart and Kroger are going for $1.98 per lb. Plus turkeys are 59¢ per lb at Kroger when you spend $20. I would get my ham and turkey at Kroger. You hit the $20 price mark with the ham alone, (or add some of the other deals going on at Kroger to hit $20). Turkeys are between 12-15lbs. Lets do a calculation assuming your ham is 10lb and you got a huge 15lb turkey.
HEB: Ham would cost $29.99 but you get a free turkey up to 12lbs. If you go over 12lbs you must pay for those additional lbs of turkey at whatever that price is.
Kroger: Ham would cost $19.99 + $8.85 for your turkey = $28.84.

I don't need such a huge ham or turkey for my thanksgiving meals, so Kroger is a better option for me if I can find smaller sizes. Plus I don't need to drive and waste 30 minutes worth of gas to go to HEB.

-Riverside grade A Young Turkey, 47¢ per lb with additional $20 purchase.
-Beef shoulder roast, boneless $2.47 per lb with additional $10 purchase. Limit 2 packages.
-Hill Country Fare split chicken breasts, $1 per lb with additional $10 purchase. Limit 2 packages.
-Extra jumbo raw white shrimp $4.97 per lb.
-HEB premium bacon, 12oz 2 for $5
-Smoked ham hocks 97¢ per lb
-Jamestown spiral sliced ham, bone in $1.57 per lb
-Smithfield premium shank portion ham $1.27 per lb

Produce
-Sweet potatoes, 4lbs for $1, thats 25¢ per lb!
-Texas grown green beans, fresh 97¢ per lb
-Texas navel oranges 8 lb bags $3.98 each.

Dairy
-Hill Country Fare Country Spread 45oz tubs, 2 for $3.

Randalls- Based on Galveston's 61st Street Ad
Prices effective Nov 14th-Nov 22nd in my area
I don't know why this store is still in business. Everything is always more expensive then at other stores! I rarely find deals here.

Meat
-Rancher's Reserve Boneless Beef Chuck Cross Rib Roast $2.49 per lb
-Safeway Whole Turkey $0.59 per lb with an additional $50 purchase. At Kroger, you only need to spend $20 to get the 59¢ per lb pricing on turkey. In general, everything in Randalls is more expensive than in other places so I never hit $50 in one purchase with them. To me this is only a good deal if you regularly shop at Randalls and know your going to buy $50 worth of stuff. Or stock up on tons of the beef chuck that is on sale for $2.49 per lb to hit the $50 mark... If I had a huge freezer and a family that eats tons of beef I would.

Produce
-Sweet potatoes, 5 for $1, or 20¢ each. This is the best price on sweet potatoes on Galveston.

Dairy

-Pantry Essentials Milk gallons $2.29 each. This is a coupon from the Just U section of the Randall's website. You may have, or have not got this coupon.

Walmart- Galveston location
Prices effective Nov 14th-Nov 17th

Dairy
-Imperial value pack of 12 butter sticks, 48oz total, $2 each

Other Deals
-4 pack of Libby's green beans $2 each, making each can 50¢ each.
-Swanson canned chicken broth 14oz 60¢ each
